Ballymac 3-6 v Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-12

Glenbeigh/Glencar made the journey to Ballymacgelligot in round 7 of the county league in a vital game for the club.

Glenbeigh/Glencar were really up for this game and shot out of the blocks, a great run  and superb finish to the net from a narrow angle by Colin McGilliycuddy got the away team off to a dream start, seconds later Colin and Danny O’Sullivan added 2 points  notching up an impressive 1-2 in the first 10min. Ballymac tried to get into the game but some great defending and wasteful shooting saw them kick 3 wides in a row. Glenbeigh/Glencar were moving the ball from defence to attack at great speed which caused the ballymac defence all sorts of problems, on the 12min the lively Stephen O’Sullivan opened his account with a lovely point. A superb Glenbeigh/Glencar move was then finished to the net by Jason Mckenna putting the visitors into what looked like an unassailable lead with the scoreline reading Ballymac 0-0 Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-4 after 13mins of play.

Some very sloppy play by Glenbeigh/Glencar gave the home team a glimmer of hope as 3 intercepted passes lead to Ballymac’s opening 3 points, on the 17min Ballymac were then awarded a soft penalty that was dispatched to the back of the net. The impressive Connie Murphy then saw a clever chip over the goal keepers head come back off the crossbar, Jason McKenna notched up his second score just before half time however a ballymac free left the half time score Ballymac 1-4 Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-5.

Glenbeigh/Glencar started off the second half as they did the first with 4 unanswered points 2 from Jason McKenna and 1 each from Vincent Hoare and Connie Murphy. Ballymac opened their second half account however this was quickly cancelled out by a superb Danny O’Sullivan point. Glenbeigh/Glencar were not going to make the same mistake and let Ballymac back into the game, 3 points from Jason McKenna, Colin McGilliycuddy and Bernard Murphy all but closed out the game. Ballymac were awarded their second penalty of the game on the stroke of full time, again the ball hit the back of the net however this only put a respectable score on the game.

Glenbeigh/Glencar ran out easy winners in the with the final score at

Ballymac 3-6 Glenbeigh/Glencar 2-13.
