Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-13 Beaufort 0-10
Glenbeigh/Glencar took on their Mid Kerry neighbours in an important match in a race for second spot in the league on Sunday evening in Glenbeigh. The home team raced into a six point lead with some excellent scores from Danny O' Sullivan, Colin Mcgillicuddy (2), Chris O' Sullivan, Jason Mckenna and Bernard Murphy. Kevin O' Brien scored Beauforts first point of the game befor Mckenna scored his second of the afternoon to make the score 0-7 to 0-1. Beaufort found some form and cut the deficit to three points with some fine scores from Kevin O' Brien (2) and Francis Courtney. Beaufort were in the ascendancy in the later stages of the half but fine performance's by Jeemiah Hoare, Sean Roche, Pa Kilkenny, Donogh Mcgillicuddy in the home team defence kept them at bay. Vincent Hoare and Connie Murphy added two points for the home side in the closing minutes of the half to make the halftime score 0-9 to 0-5
Beaufort got off to a good start in the second half but spurned a number of goal chances down to good work by Rory O' Connor in the Glenbeigh/Glencar goal and some poor finishing. Kevin O' Brien scored Beaufort’s opening point of the second half but it was quickly replied to by Steven O Sullivan. The visitors added two points and cut Glenbeigh/Glencars lead to just three points. The game was delicately poised, Fergal Griffin, Colin Mcgilicuddy and Pa Kilkenny dug deep and the home team were rewarded with two points from Bernard Murphy and Connie Murphy to make the score 0-12 to 0-7. Beaufort came back strongly again and were unlucky not to score the first goal of the game when Courtney saw his shot come off the frame of the Glenbeigh/Glencar goal with 10 minutes remaining. The visitors did manage three further points to make it a nervous finish to the game but Connie Murphy's third point of the match put the match out of reach and the home team secured a well deserved win. The final score was Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-13 Beaufort 0-10
