Kenmare 1-12  Glenbeigh/Glencar 0-10

Glenbeigh/Glencar made the trip to Kenmare in the County league on Saturday evening. Unfortunateley William, Peter and Brian had number of absenteeism due to the Junior Final, injury and players away on holiday. Glenbeigh/Glencar were without Gavan O Grady, Kieran Courtney, Jack Brosnan, Caolim Teahan, Oisin O Connor, Dara Casey and Rory O Connor.

Kenmare were quick out of the blocks racing into a three-point lead thanks to points from Paul O Connor 2 frees and 1 from play. Tommy Cahill opened the scoring for the visitors with a well taken free from distance. Dara Crowley drove up the field from the fullback line to extend Kenmare's lead but another fine point from Cahill kept Glenbeigh/Glencar in touch. Paul O Connor and Tommy Cahill added two well taken frees to make the score 0-05 to 0-03. There was little in the game but a number of soft frees all seemed to go the way of the home team in the early stages. Pa Kilkenny driving from deep created scoring chances but it was Kenmare that took control of the game as the half went on and extended their lead with a point from Fionan O Sullivan and a fine converted free by their keeper Kieran Fitzgibbons. Tommy Cahill at full forward was a handful and scored his fourth of the match but Sean O Leary and another Kieran Fitzgibbon free gave Kenmare a 0-09 to 0-04 lead at halftime.

There was much more urgency from Glenbeigh/Glencar at the start of the second half and their pressure paid off with the opening two points coming from Tommy Cahill who was on fire as he reduced the deficit to three points. Kenmare struggled to create chances as they were pressed high up the field with Caoilte Purcell, Darran O Sullivan, Daniel Griffin, Podge Griffin and Adrian O Connor all working hard to close down space but another debatable free kick gave Kieran Fitzgibbon an opportunity to score his third free of the match. Darran O Sullivan responded with a fine score but as it looked as if Glenbeigh/Glencar could get something out of the game the sucker punch came, Donal O Neill in the Glenbeigh/Glencar who was having a good game was left with no chance as Kenmare substitute Kevin Price shot low and hard just inside the post to make it 1-10 to 0-08. Tom Murnane and Kevin Price closed the game out with two points, Glenbeigh/Glencar introduced three quality young lads in Liam Roche, Sean T Sheahan and Tommy Quirke for the final few minutes and it didn't take long for young Roche to show his ability scoring a fine point from distance. Tommy Quirke linked up well with Darran O Sullivan as he scored the final score of the match. Final score 1-12 to 0-10

Congratulations to Jack Brosnan and Caolim Teahan who won the Junior All Ireland Final in Portlaoise on Saturday evening. Both the lads represented Glenbeigh/Glencar brilliantly throughout the competition with Jack getting Man of the Match in the final, well done lads.
